Shawn’s Bio.

Shawn Nguyen AKA DJ Deadstock was born in Flint, MI; he moved to Middle TN in 1990. During his childhood, he was always surrounded with music. His father and several family members were musicians; they all played different instruments. He grew up in the 80's when Hip-Hop and turntablism was just starting to take off; this is when he discovered his passion for music. He got his first set of turntables and a mixer in 2001. DJing started off as a hobby; he would just spin by himself or while hanging out with family and friends. After a couple of years of practicing in a garage and an attic, he got recognized and started booking events at everywhere. He stays consistently busy with weddings, corporate events, local clubs, and other private events.

Although he grew up loving Hip-Hop music, he could not escape his southern surroundings. It is not rare to catch him mashing up Hip Hop and Country hits during his sets. He is very well-versed in playing everything from the Oldies to Top 40 music. He has a versatile style and enjoys mixing it up. Being an open format DJ allows him to cater to any type of genre/era; making it an enjoyable experience for any demographic.
